Philippine Island is Now Under State of Calamity

Since the outbreak of Novel Corona Virus, or known as COVID-19 which affects diffrent parts of the world, including our country which also suffers the daily lives of the citizens. Due to this widespread of the disease, President Rodrigo Duterte declared last March 16th, 2020 the whole country under state of calamity.

 

Where as Proclamation No. 922 s. 2020, the State of Public Health Emergency. Code Red Sublevel 2 is raise in accordance with the recommendation of the Department of Health (D.O.H).

 

Pursuant to Republic Act No.10121 known as the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010, declaring the State of Calamity throughout the country and ample latitude to utilize appropriate funds which inlcudes Quick Respond Funds, in their disaster preparedness and response efforts to contain the spread of COVID - 19 and to continue to provide basic services to the affected population.

 

The said period of this declaration throughout the country is 6 months, unless earlier lifted or extended as circumstances may warrant. Enhanced community Quarantine throughout the Luzon Island is imposed beginning 12 midnight from the day of declaration until April 12, 2020, unless earlier lifted or extended as circumstances may also warrant. 

 

Due to this strict home quarantine, many establishments like shopping malls were closed to avoid the spread of the virus. Still frontline operations serving the basic needs of the community is business as usual.

 

Due to this crisis, a joint special session of the Sangguniang Bayan were conducted for the Directional Meeting and Guidelines on Barangay Coordination on Preparedness Plan for COVID-19. The implementing rules and regulations were tackled regarding the Executive Order declared by President Duterte. 

Since the past days, our L.G.U distributes of free face masks and 70% solution of alcohols to residents to avoid the contact of the deadly virus.

While the distribution of facemasks and alcohols were on-going, other LGU staffs are preparing the relief goods that will be distributed to residents for their daily needs which is the directive order from President Duterte. This is a starting step of our local government thru the supervision of Mayor George Ricardo Gacula II, Vice-Mayor Michell Bermundo and its Sangguniang Bayan Members.
