As the town fiesta starts, different festivities will be conducted. One of it is the Adobong matanda boodle fight festival which held every year during the fiesta which happens along the main road of the town proper.
Due to the scare of the NCov Virus that affects people worldwide, this event which is scheduled this coming Sunday, February 9, is cancelled as precautionary measures.
On a statement by Mayor George Ricardo Gacula II, the Adobo Festival Boodle Feast will be postponed to prevent and safeguard the public from the virus, as advised by Dr. Jeffrey Roxas, Municipal Health Officer of the Municipality of Taytay.
He also stated that openly exposed food and people constantly talking while the food is laid down on the banana leaves waiting to be eaten by Kamayan style using fingers is a very dangerous and possible way to get infected.
"Di natin kaya pigilan ang mga nauubo, nababahing at mga laway na tumatalsik habang nakaharap at naghihintay ng hudyat ng kainan."
The honorable mayor also informed Barangay Captain Allan De Leon of Barangay Dolores, organizer of the event pioneered by former Councilor Sharon de Leon - Macabebe, to re schedule this event at a later and safer date. We cannot risk the lives of the public.
Not only this particular event has cancelled, all of the DepEd Hamaka events which involves Students will also be cancelled. If the situation worsens, the entire town fiesta for this year will be forced to cancel.
